The "wood" of Stones

In Celendín this place is known as the Bosque de Piedras (wood of stones), but also like the Soldados de Piedra: the soldiers of stone.

It's a large amount of special shaped and very large rock-formations. A lot of them could be seen like figures, or "soldiers".

To visit this place with private transportation you need a day, preferably in the dry season. It's possible to go there with public transportation, but in that case you will need more time. You go until Huangashanga, from there with a private car you can get close to the stones and walk directly from there. In the "wood" however you can walk quite a while, and on a sunny day it;s a great place for a picknick!
